MARJORIE ADELAIDE WALLIN Obituary
Marjorie Adelaide Wallin Marjorie Adelaide Wallin (nee Axelson), 97, died peacefully in her sleep on Feb. 22, 2013 in Palatine, IL. An Open House will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, March 3, 2013. Burial will occur at a later date. She was born in Red Oak, IA on Sept. 26, 1915 to Clara Mathilda (nee Sanderson) and Johan Albert Edward Axelson, the last of six children. She live on a farm during the depression with no electricity or plumbing. She received her Registered Nurses' training from Henrotin Hospital in Chicago and married Bernard Kenneth Wallin from Stanton, IA on Oct. 5, 1940. He died on May 26, 1993. Adelaide served as a public health nurse for Cook County Hospital in Chicago during WWII, took time off to raise a family in 1946, and returned as an Emergency Room nurse at Northwest Community Hospital from 1964 until 1977. She is survived by John (Shirley Moore) Wallin, Linda Wallin, Paul (June Holmstrom) Wallin; four grandchildren: Greene Wallin Moore, Joshua Duncan, Colin (Lynette) Duncan, and Kimberly Duncan; and three great-grandchildren: Adeline, Violet and Anshu Duncan. Memorials may be given to the American Civil Liberties Union in her honor.
