Obituary Condolences

Raymond Paul Wave Raymond Paul Wave, 83, of The Holmstad Retirement Community in Batavia, and formerly of Elgin and Elmwood Park, IL, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva. He was born July 18, 1929 in Chicago, IL the son of Paul and Emma (nee Wolter) Wave. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Bartelsmeier on September 9, 1950 in Chicago, IL. Ray served in the United States Army. Following his service time he attended Wright Junior College, the Ray Vogue School of Design, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Academy of Fine Arts and Northwestern University. Ray began his career as a draftsman for Motorola and in 1957 reinvented himself as a manufacturers' representative, eventually starting his own firm from which he retired in 2005. Upon arrival at The Holmstad, Ray began teaching classes in Fine Art, Classical Music, Cinema, and American History. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth; three children Keith (Chris) Wave of Winnebago, IL; Ellen (Jim) Henderson of Dousman, WI; Norm (Mary) Wave of Park Ridge, IL; eight grandchildren, Lauren (Josh) Delamater, Elyse, and Greg Wave; James, Scott and Kevin Henderson, and Maggie and Anne Wave; two great-grandchildren Mia and Thomas. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at The Holmstad, 700 West Fabyan Parkway, Batavia, IL. A private committal service and honor guard will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL, time to be announced.
