Obituary Condolences

James R. Phillips James R. Phillips, born September 15, 1923, from Wheaton, Illinois, passed away on June 19, 2013. He was born in Terre Haute, Indiana and resided in Wheaton, Illinois for over 30 years with his wife of 66 years, Doris B. Phillips (deceased). James was a decorated staff sergeant in the Army 499th Anti-Aircraft Artillery division in World War II. He earned a Bachelor's degree from University of Illinois in Journalism and worked for several decades at State Farm where he was recognized for his professionalism and his genuine way he had with people. He was a man of integrity and honor. Truly part of the greatest generation. Anyone who knew him knew he was a devout St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was an amazing story teller, and his humor was contagious. James was kind and genuine, and always put his family first. His unselfish, loving, caring, and gentle way will be missed incredibly by his family and friends. James is survived by his daughters, Mary Osolin and Christine Phillips; granddaughter, Lisa Bruno and great granddaughter, Sarah Bruno. The viewing will be held Friday, June 21st at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Place, Aurora, IL 60506 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm and the funeral will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL on Monday, June 24th at 2pm.
