Obituary Condolences

Barbara (Mercer) Mancuso, 88, formerly of Palatine and Chicago, died peacefully at Winchester House. Born in Princeton IL, she lived most of her life in Chicago where she raised her children and worked for Acco and Skil Corps. She was proud to tell people that she was an athlete all her life. She bowled and swam at the Y until a few years ago and before that she skated, played tennis, field hockey, baseball, basketball and even football with her brothers. Active in the PTA and chorus when her children were young, she became active in the Palatine Sr Center and an avid bingo player later in life. She is survived by her children Carol (Ralph) Opsal, Joe (Elizabeth) Mancuso, Mike (Laura) Mancuso, Barb (Miguel) Vivanco, Bob Mancuso; her grandchildren Michelle Belline, Joe Mahnke, Wendy Sikorski, Heidi Lau, John Lorenzi, Leonor Vivanco, Anthony Mancuso, Mike Opsal, Michelle Vivanco, Barbie Vivanco, Mike Vivanco, Dominick Mancuso, Bobby Mancuso; her great grandchildren Alexandra Belline, Jack Lau, Charlotte Lau, Ben Mendez, Alex Mendez, Angelina Belline, Maggie Lau, Payton Opsal, Nora Montiel; her brother Jay Mercer and her sister Mary Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Mae Mercer, her husband Bob Mancuso and her brothers Don Mercer and Col. Roger Mercer. A celebration of her life will be held at a future date.
