ROBERT R. "BOB" SCHOEBERL Obituary
Robert R. "Bob" Schoeberl, age 77, of Naples, FL and The Stonebridge community of Aurora, IL, died Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Edward Hospital, Naperville. He was born March 13, 1936 in Lebanon, SD. Beloved husband of Nancy Heche Schoeberl and the late Patricia "Pat" (nee Ferrie) Schoeberl, loving father of Elaine (Brett) Trainor of Wheaton, IL, adored grandfather of Madeline, Sydney and Emma, devoted son of the late Raymond and Mary Schoeberl, dear brother of Jerry (Grace) Schoeberl, Don (Paula) Schoeberl, Eugene (Sharon) Schoeberl, Leanne (the late Charles) Mraz, Karen (the late Dwayne) Robison, Karol (Charles) Smith and the late Cletus (Charlene) Schoeberl, fond uncle of many. Bob grew up on a farm near Cedar Rapids, IA and was a graduate of Immaculate Conception High School. He attended Loras College in Dubuque, IA and later served in the U.S. Army. Bob was employed by Montgomery Ward & Co. for almost 40 years, retiring in 1994 as a President and Senior Officer. Bob's family, friends and his philanthropic endeavors, along with playing golf, were his passions in life. He was a member of Stonebridge Country Club, Aurora and Collier's Reserve in Naples. Bob was active on many boards and civic organizations including: Mount Mercy University, Cedar Rapids and was a longtime board member and member of the executive committee of the Automotive Aftermarket Foundation. He was also a former board member of TBC Corp., Lund Industries and was former CEO/ Chairman of Midas Corp., Over the years, Bob served as a lector at many Catholic churches and was a strong supporter of the Over the Rainbow Association. Bob Schoeberl will always be remembered as a man whose concern for his fellow man knew no bounds. Visitation Sunday, September 22, 2:00-7:00 P.M. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Services will begin Monday, September 23, 9:00 A.M. from the funeral home and will proceed to a 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael Catholic Church, 310 S. West St., Wheaton, IL 60187, 630-665-2250, www.stmichaelcommunity.org. Interment: Assumption Cemetery, Wheaton, IL. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Robert R. Schoeberl can be made to the Northwestern Scleroderma Program at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Contributions will be used to further research and education efforts.
