1928 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
Arthur G. Buehler, 85 passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL. He was born April 3, 1928 in Chicago Heights, IL, was a former 50 year resident of Northbrook, living at Heather Ridge in Gurnee since 2004. He was a tireless volunteer for SHORE Community Services in Skokie, serving as president of the executive board for many years and helping to manage The Second Time Around resale shop. He was honored by the Pioneer Press Newspaper as an Outstanding Volunteer of the year and was also a SHORE Volunteer of the Year. Art was active with the Boy Scouts, enjoyed the outdoors, Native American Culture, gardening and sharing meals with friends. He was a US Army veteran and once rode his bicycle 750 miles from IL to Washington D.C. to raise money for disabled veterans. Surviving are his children, Keith Buehler and Meridith (Kevin) Murray, both of Libertyville; 3 grandchildren, Stephen (Sarah) Buehler, Laura Murray and Emily Buehler. Also surviving is his beloved companion, Roberta. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce in 2007 and by his son Eric in 1985. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wed. Feb. 12, 2014 at the Burnett-Dane Funeral Home Ltd., 120 W. Park Ave. (Route 176, one block west of Milwaukee Ave.), Libertyville. Funeral services with military honors will be at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Northbrook.
