1923 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS - Andrew J. Goda, 90, died on Wednesday; March 5th, 2014 at The Oak Terrace Nursing Home in Springfield, IL. He was born in Cleveland, OH on November 4th, 1923, a son of Mike & Frances Sopka Goda. He moved to Arlington Heights, IL and lived there for 55 years. Andrew married Bertha M. Scharenbrock on May 31st, 1958 at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Chicago. He received a High School Education and some training in the carpentry field. Andy was the Financial Secretary for the Carpenter's Union Local 839 and was employed by various firms and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He is survived by his wife, 1 son Jim & Sue Clough of Stow, OH; 1 daughter Diane & Kevin Sieving of Ashland, IL; 4 grandsons: Brian & Allison Clough, Greg & Jalaja Clough, Scott & Sangeeta Clough, Riley Cowman and a grand-daughter Kirby Cowman. Andrew is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren and one on the way and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 1 sister: Michael, Joseph, John, Steve, and Susan Sauvey. Funeral Services for Andrew J. Goda were held on Tuesday; March 11th, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Ladysmith, WI, with Fr. Gene Murphy officiating. Burial with Military Honors provided by the Ladysmith Veteran's Association will be in Riverside Cemetery. The Goda Family did receive friends at The Nash - Jackan Funeral Home in Ladysmith after 4:00 PM on Monday where there will be a Scripture Service at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials in the name of Andrew J. Goda are requested for Habitat for Humanity or The Ted Kennedy/George Vest Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o The Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters.
