LOIS EMLEEN BAUMGARTNER

1918 - 2018

ELGIN - Lois Emleen (Egoroff) Baumgartner, age 99, of Elgin, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Hospice in Strongsville, Ohio. She was born February 9, 1918 in Elgin, the youngest daughter of the late Emil and Martha (Sergeoff) Egoroff. Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Erwin whom she married on September 30, 1938, and her siblings; Anna Wolodkin, Clara Taylor, Marie Graening, Olga Munch Grosso and Dr. Walter (Lois) Egoroff, sister Nina in infancy and her life-long friend, Bernice Anderson. Lois is survived by her daughter, Judy (Larry Oliver) Baumgartner Bacon of Elyria, Ohio, grandchildren; William Bacon, Janet Williams, Susan (Michael) Urbanc and Becky (Douglas) Jones, and four great-grandchildren, Jessica Jones, Charles Williams IV, William A. Williams, and Michael Urbanc, as well as many nieces and nephews. Lois was a long time resident of Elgin and graduated from Elgin HS in 1936. She was a member of Faith United Methodist (EUB) Church in Elgin. She went to beauty school and opened her own business in her home in 1949. Lois was a Girl Scout leader for many years, involved in the PTA and member of Elgin Bird Watchers Club. She had a love of reading and a passion for music. Also loved to fish at Battle Lake, MN. Lois retired from the Church of the Brethren General Offices as Associate Staff in 1984 after 25 years of service. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 10:30 AM in the Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin. Burial will follow in Bluff City Cemetery. Luncheon to follow at Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 41 W170 Russell Rd, Plato Center, IL. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 PM 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
