Bill was one of my fire fighter / fire prevention mentors after starting with the Carol Stream Fire District. Anytime I had a question he was always willing to teach and lead me in the right direction. I still use and share his fire code knowledge to this day! Rest in peace my friend.

I first met Bill in 1981 when I started working at the City of Wheaton. Seeing Bill, Wes Rose and others at City Hall really started my day off on a good note. Many years later I remember being over at the old Eddie Ruch Pontiac building while City Hall was being remodeled. And I remember him working with ICC. Always smiling. Recently I posted something on Facebook and he saw it and made a comment. He replied to my comment and made sure that I knew he recognized it was me even though my last name had changed. He put something in the post that will make me - forever - remember him fondly. "p-s" he always called me pipsqueak. I won't miss you Bill Rehr because you will always be in my heart.

I had the privileged of working with Bill at ICC for a number of years. His knowledge and understanding was amazing. His stories and smile always brightened my day. I always called him Mr. Bill because he greatly deserved my respect and admiration.

I didn't get to spend a lot of time with Mr. Rehr but the time I did spend with him I will always cherish. He reminded me of my dad in so many ways. Now they're both in glory. Love you Rehrs! You are all in my prayers.

Sail on, Old Salt. Sail on to that beautiful shore o'er the horizon. Once, we sailed together. Alone now, you go on ahead of me. One day, I, too, will sail on and meet you there. Thank you, my old shipmate, for all these many years of friendship. My life was made better by your presence in it, yet it will be forever diminished by your absence from it. But, your earthly labours are now ended. Enter into that house, not made by hands, eternal in the heavens.
