Obituary Condolences

Fred I. Palmer of St. Charles A funeral service for Fred I. Palmer, 77, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at Faith Lutheran Church, 1745 Kaneville Road, Geneva, with the Rev. Chris Nilges officiating. Born June 29, 1925, in Laramie, Wyo., the son of Will and Rose (nee Burri) Palmer, he died Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at his home. A construction engineer, Mr. Palmer had moved to the St. Charles area to work for the Masonite Corporation and prior to that had been employed by the Manasha and the Weyer-Hauser corporations. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers and the Teck Association for Pulp and Paper Industry. A veteran, he had served in the Navy during World War II. Surviving are his children, Marilyn (Dan) Clement of Burlington, Wis., Paula (Bruno) Miale of Northbrook, Lenore (Ed) Melanowski of Vicking, Ind., and Richard (Rosemarie) Palmer of Winter Park, Fla.; 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, William F. Palmer of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Budd (Darlene) Palmer of Albany County, Wyo.; and sister, Geneva (Bruce) Marrs of Broomfield, Colo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eila, on Jan. 10, 2002. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, at the Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third St., St. Charles.
