Funeral service for Shelta H. Haywood, 58 of Talladega, will be Sunday, December 22, 2013 at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Usrey Funeral Home. Jonathan Maxwell will officiate and burial will follow in Midway Memory Gardens. Her family will receive friends Saturday for 6-8 pm at Usrey Funeral Home of Talladega. She passed away December 19, 2013 at Trinity Hospital in Birmingham. Shelta was a lifelong resident of Talladega. She was employed with the Alabama School for the Blind with 37 years of service. She was an avid reader and loved her family dearly. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She always put others before herself. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Barion "Franklin" Haywood Sr., son, Barion "Bo" Haywood Jr. (Monique), daughters, Heather Haywood (Keith Richardson), Hayley McDonald, granddaughters, Blaire McDonald, and Simone Haywood, sisters, Marva Brown (Wayne), Florence Champion, brothers, Wayne Harbin, Vayron Harbin and Frankie Harbin along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Adam Brown, Bobby Marler, Jr., Shea Brown, Alan Patterson, Keith Richardson and Roger Champion. Honorary pallbearers will be teachers, staff and the ASB family. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to: Alabama School for the Blind Foundation, in honor of Shelta Haywood, PO Box 698 Talladega, AL 35161. Mrs. Haywood you brought a smile to my face everytime I saw you. I remember the first time I saw you at Alabama School for the Blind the first time the gentle but stern woman I respected. Sweet dreams my friend.
