Norris Curtis Obituary

Funeral service for Norris Dave Curtis, 69, will be Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 1 pm at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel with burial in Greenhill Cemetery. Mr. Curtis died November 30, 2012 at UT Medical Center in Tennessee from a pancreatic embolism. Mr. Curtis was a resident of Talladega County for 60 years. He was an employee of Kimberly-Clark Corporation for 15 years. He was also a Minister of Music to churches in Talladega County as well as surrounding counties and other areas throughout the states of AL and TN. He was a member of Coosa Valley Knife Club through the duration of its existence. He was an active member of the Emmaus Cluster of AL until he and his wife moved out of state. He had been a member of First Baptist Church of Kingston, TN for the past 5 years. Mr. Curtis had many hobbies; most notably his ability to carve beautiful wooden crosses, which he used as a ministry to give to those in need of hope. He was a friend and confidante to all with whom he came in contact. He had a smile that could light up a room.; HE WILL BE MISSED!!!! He was preceded in death by father, John Marion and mother, Maggie Delean Curtis. He is survived by wife of 48 years Sandra Watts Curtis; son, Christopher Dave Curtis of Alhambra, CA; daughter, Lea Michelle (Chuck) Jackson of Kingston, TN; grandchildren, Delia (Chris) Price of Richmond, KY; Brooke Prosser (Cameron Van Horn, fiance'); Maggie Jackson and Noah Jackson all of Kingston, TN; brothers, Milton (Matt) of Jackson's Gap, Henry (Inez) of Gardendale, Ewell (Janie) of Prescott, AZ, Gene (Sue) of Lithia, FL, Jewell of Cucamonga, CA; sister, Barbara of Alabaster. Norris and Sandra were blessed with a lifetime of brotherly love with Nita and Darrell Avery and their family. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 4, 2012 from 11-1pm at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel. Pallbearers will be Tom Clark, Brock Trice, Cleo Garrett, Brian Curtis, Larry Curtis, Brian Avery, Mitch Avery, Eric Watts, and Cameron VanHorn.
