TALLADEGA- Frances Harkins Roberts, 83, passed away on January 10, 2013, at Mountain View Lake Retirement Village. Frances was born in Jasper, AL, on February 7, 1929. Her parents were John Wesley Harkins and Julia Royster Harkins. She married Earl Johnson Roberts whom she met at Jacksonville State University. She was an educator for a period exceeding 35 years, during which she worked in several school systems. She retired from the Alabama School for the Deaf. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Talladega, where she served as church hostess. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Hilltoppers. She is preceded in death by her parents and an infant son. Frances is survived by her husband, Earl Roberts, children Johnny and Debbie Roberts, Brenda and Bo Hollingsworth, Jeff and Wendy Roberts, Chuck and Cindy Roberts, 8 grandchildren, and 3 great grandsons. A visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Talladega on Saturday, January 12 from 12:00 to 1:00. Funeral services at the church will immediately follow. Burial will be in Liberty Hills cemetery in Clay County. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Talladega, AL.
