Dwight T. Cooley

A memorial service for Mr. Dwight T. Cooley, age 85, will be Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Center West Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. Mr. Cooley passed away on Friday, March 23, 2012 at Trinity Medical Center in Birmingham. A Clay County native, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and volunteered for a second tour of duty during the Korean War. Dwight retired from Southern Bell after 37 years of service and was a member of the Pioneers organization. He was an active member of Center West Baptist Church in Delta and an avid sportsman who loved to hunt and fish. Dwight also had 15 brothers and sisters that he held close to heart. Mr. Cooley is survived by one daughter, Patricia Ann Mitchell (Mike) of Pulaski, TN; two sisters: Kathleen Key of Pell City, AL and MaybelleNorred of Talladega; one sister-in-law, Barbara Cooley of Talladega; one brother, Roy Cooley of Tuscaloosa and five grandchildren. Mr. Cooley was preceded in death by his parents: George W. Cooley and Belle Burk Cooley; his former wife, Eunice R. Haynes Cooley and his second wife, Judith R. Cooley. The family will receive friends at Center West Baptist Church Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 1:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M. Send on-line condolences to www.benefieldfuneralhome.com.
