Funeral services for Carolyn Renee Griffin Norwood, 48, will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at First Baptist Church South, Pell City. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Ms. Norwood will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the services. Ms. Carolyn Renee Griffin Norwood was born on July 17, 1970 in Sylacauga, Alabama to Charles Hamilton and Linnie Mae Griffin. Ms. Norwood confessed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a member of Greater New Destiny Christian Church in which she served in any capacity she could. Carolyn was a graduate of Pell City High School and continued her education at Gadsden State Community College. She was employed as a caregiver and was a former employee of Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind. Carolyn departed this life at her residence on Tuesday, September 4, 2018. She was preceded in death by her son, Tony Martin, Jr. and her sister, LaTanja Nobles. She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Keyanna Martin of Lincoln, Alabama; two sons, Donald Martin and Michael Martin of Talladega, Alabama; parents, Charles Hamilton of Childersburg, Alabama and Linnie Mae Cohill of Vincent, Alabama; four grandchildren, Tanyiah Truss, Traci Young, Arianna Martin and McKenzi Threatt; two sisters, Vera Cohill of Vincent, Alabama and Jessica Posey of Nashville, Tennessee; three brothers, Terrance Cohill and Tyrone Cohill of Vincent, Alabama and Marvin Thomas of Childersburg, Alabama; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
