TALLADEGA - John Emmanuel Lackey died on November 8, 2012 at the age of 46. John was born in Talladega, Alabama on May 18, 1966. He was a 1984 graduate of Talladega County Training School and a Veteran of Desert Storm. John was preceded in death by his loving step-father, Calvin Pearson. He is survived by his partner, Brian Ray; his sons, Andrew Lackey and Brandon Lackey, both of whom are in the United States Marines; his mother and best friend, Blue Shirley; step father Ken Shirley; his favorite and only sister, Aimee Pearson Pike; his brothers, Glenn Lackey and Lynn Lackey; special sister, Sandra Hickey; special friend, De Watkins and a host of friends, family, nieces and nephews. John spent the majority of his life in the nursing field taking care of people and animals and was known througout the community for his wisdom and willingness to be a good friend to anyone. John had a special place in his heart for all animals but especially for his own; BaileyMonster, Brandy, Boscha, Bella, Bishette and Butch. He enjoyed spending time with his family as well as fishing. There will be no public services. The family had a private memorial for Mr. Lackey on Saturday, November 10, 2012 and will have a Celebration of Life Service at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.usreyfuneralhome.com
