Paul Wayne "Amos" Hill, 72, of Talladega, passed away on September 21, 2013 at Talladega Health Care Center surrounded by family. He was born on February 9, 1941 in Talladega, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul William "Pete" Hill and Mary Frances Hill, and a brother, Albert "Bo" Hill. He is survived by two daughters, Shelley Daniel of Lincoln and Anna Hill of Talladega; three sisters, Jean Gurley (Bob) of Pell City, Dianne Fair (Jimmy) of Piedmont, and Joy Burlison (Stan) of Talladega; nieces and nephews, Dr. Brooke Morgan (Greg), Meri Beth Keith (Slate), and Griff Hill (Shannon), all of Talladega; Melanie Harmon (David), Alicia Davis (Eric) of Piedmont, Dan Gurley, Tim Gurley, Cindy Rawson, and Angela Black, all of Pell City; four grandchildren, Drew Daniel, Cassidy Daniel, Peyton Daniel, and Camryn Hill; a great grandchild, Brooklyn Daniel; and many great nieces and nephews who were dear to his heart. His given name was Paul, but he was known as Amos. The kids simply called him Bubba. He was a lifelong resident of Talladega and a Charter Member of Southwood Presbyterian Church. He attended Talladega High School and served in the United States Army. Amos spent the majority of his adult life working for Shaddix Pulpwood. He spent many years managing local Men's Softball teams and often said that those were the best years of his life. His sense of humor was contagious, as was his heartfelt smile and love for his family. Amos was a die hard Alabama fan. He would often sit for hours in his truck listening to talk radio about his beloved Crimson Tide. He also enjoyed watching old western movies, listening to Elvis and old country music, quoting bible scripture, and above all else, spending time with family and friends. The stories he told over the years were one of a kind...and boy did he have some good ones. Memorial services will be Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega.
