William Ralph "'Bill'" Luscomb

William Luscomb Obituary

William Ralph (Bill) Luscomb passed away early Thursday morning October 13, 2011, at his home in Steele, Alabama. He was 68 years old. He was a loving son, husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.
He was a native of Avon Park, Florida and longtime resident of Ashville, Alabama in St. Clair County.
Mr. Luscomb was a Sergeant in the US Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Strategic Air Command unit in Colorado and Minot, North Dakota. After being discharged he served in several construction, agricultural and communications jobs. His most recent position, before retiring, was as a rural mail services carrier for the US Postal Service.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 20 years, Martha Battles Luscomb, his parents William Frederick (Bill) and Beatrice Casalini Luscomb.
He is survived by one sister; Anita Luscomb (Bill) Furrow of Tallahassee, Florida; three daughters Deborah Denise, Noreen Leslie, Danella Lynn Luscomb. Five step children; Brenda (Roger) White, Kenneth (Fox) Battles, Debbie (Mike) Casey, Bobbie (Tony) Blackmon, Steven (Rosemary) Battles; 14 grandchildren; Michael Keel, Bryan (Rachel) Keel, Marci and Casey Blackmon, Lorrie (Steven) Sawyer, Angela (Jayson) England, Derrick Battles, Hannah, Orin and Adam (Charee) Battles, Dewayne (Amanda) Battles, numerous nieces and nephews and his faithful dog Rubin.
A graveside service was held in his honor at Reeves Grove Cemetery with family and friends in attendance. The service was officiated by Reverend Paul Alexander of the Reeves Grove Baptist Church in Steele, Alabama.
