Hazel Vinson Alexander passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013. Mrs. Alexander was born in Panola, Alabama on July 23, 1925, to William Jonathan, Sr. and Eula (Garrett) Vinson. She married Thomas Claxton Alexander at Pell City First Baptist Church on Easter Sunday, April 6, 1947. As an administrative assistant at the Board of Education, Mrs. Alexander served Pell City and St. Clair County for 30 years. During her tenure, she acted as secretary to eight different superintendents and worked along side as Pell City created its own school system. Additionally, she remained a faithful member of First Baptist Church, serving in various ministries throughout her life. Mrs. Alexander is survived by her loving husband, T.C., who called her his bride for 66 years, as well as their two sons Thomas Reed (Karen) Alexander and Rex Vinson (Carol) Alexander. Six grandsons include; Thomas Reed (Aerin) Alexander, David Garrett (Seana) Alexander, Joseph Christopher (Heather) Alexander, Andrew Eli (Kristina) Alexander, John Vinson Alexander, and Thomas Edward Kitsmiller, Jr. Ten great-grandchildren include; Claire, Jack, Paul Garrett, Mary Raines, Jules, Hank, Thomas Fall, Isla Jane, George, and Charlie. Mrs. Alexander is also survived by a sister, Mildred Vinson Hardwick, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Alexander was preceded in death by siblings W.J. Vinson, Jr. and Gloria Vinson Roberson. Services will be officiated by retired Reverend A.L. Courtney and Reverend Dr. John Thweatt at First Baptist Church. Visitation is Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 10am, followed by the funeral at 11am. Interment will take place at Valley Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church. Arrangements are being handled by Kilgroe Funeral Home of Pell City.
