Mrs. Jane Anne Ryan Crowe, 65 of Childersburg, Alabama passed way on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. She is survived by sister, Nancy Mattox and husband, Mike of Brentwood, TN; brother, Michael Ryan and wife, Michele of Sylacauga; niece, Julie Martin and husband, Rob of Atlanta, GA; nephews, Michael Mattox of Brentwood, TN and Ryan Houston of Sylacauga; great niece & nephews, Meg Martin, Jake Martin , Joe Martin and special friends of CHS Class of "66". She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Crowe and parents, Thomas and Gertrude Ryan. Jane was born June 20, 1948 in Appleton, Wisconsin and was a member of First Baptist Church of Talladega. Jane retired after 25 years of teaching at AIDB. Jane was recognized by the Southeast Regional Institute of Deafness as the "Southeast Regional educator of the Year" in 1985. Jane graduated in 1974 from the University of Alabama with a M.S. Education and an AA certification in education of the hearing impaired in 1982. She completed additional education at Gallaudet College, New York University and Western Maryland College. Her interests included reading, gardening, caring for her animals and always putting others first. Janie was a special person to all those who knew and loved her and she will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at the Chapel of Curtis and Son Funeral Home in Sylacauga on July 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Tommy Thornton presiding. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 13, 2013, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial gifts be made to "ASD Indigent Children's Fund", P.O. Box 698, Talladega, Alabama 35161. Curtis and Son North Chapel will direct the services.
