Patti Reeves Swanson, 60, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at her home in Montevallo, AL. Born in Cumberland, Maryland she spent most of her childhood in Portage, Indiana. She moved to Alabama in 1971 and later married Michael Glenn Reeves (deceased) of Childersburg, AL. In 2001, she returned to Portage and married her high school sweetheart, Richard Swanson. Mrs. Swanson leaves behind her mother, Jean Watson, her twin children, Stephanie Reeves Burch and Michael Cory Reeves; her grandchildren, Kirsten Michael Reeves, Jaden Leann Reeves and Isla Glynn Reeves; and one sister, Chrystal Watson Jackson. She is preceded in death by her father, Darl Watson and two sisters, Sheila Watson Todd and Edith Sarah Watson. Patti graduated from Central Alabama Community College with a nursing degree. She had a very special gift for geriatric nursing and won recognition of excellence awards at Talladega Healthcare and Fountain View Nursing Home. She will be best remembered by all for her generosity and selflessness for family, friends and her patients. She never met a stranger and her friends are friends for life. She had a love for life, and lived to give love. She will be dearly missed. Visitation will be Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 5:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel. Memorial messages may be sent to the family at Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga, AL will direct the service.
