Funeral service for Earl Mack Hatchett will be Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with Rev. Tommy Thornton and Rev. Eddie Forbus officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga. AL. Earl Mack Hatchett died Monday, June 16, 2014. During his 72 years, he enjoyed life. Mr. Hatchett enjoyed life with his family. He was born in Talladega County on March 3, 1942, the first son of Marshall Aderson Hatchett and Annie Clara McConatha Hatchett who have preceded him in death. His adult life was shared by his wife of 48 years, Julie Lackey Hatchett who survives him. His family life was made complete by his daughter, Toni Anne Hatchett Ard, husband Shawn and son Jayson. His grandchildren are Tristen Hatchett, Maison Ard, Mackenise Ard, Evin Harmon, Brianna Phillips and Bradleigh Hatchett. Earl enjoyed life with his brothers, Wayne, wife Linda, Bobby and Ken, wife Anita who are also his survivors. Other family members surviving him; Aunts Jeanie McConatha Smith, husband Gene, Mrs. Clarence Hatchett, Mrs. Harold McConatha, Mrs. Claude McConatha. In addition, Earl is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to enjoying life with his family he enjoyed many friends both at work and in the community, especially his men's coffee club. Earl enjoyed people, was always friendly and enjoyed conversation. Mr. Hatchett enjoyed life through sports. He lettered 4 years at BB Comer High School where he graduated in 1961. He was an avid fisherman enjoying the water. He once participated in a local bass tournament and was recognized for 'fishing the most and catching the least'. In his later years, he was a spectator of all sports and enjoyed sunsets over the water whether locally or at the ocean. Earl enjoyed life through service. Military service came after high school. He played football in the United States Marines for five years. Returning to Sylacauga, his service became community service being a leader in the local Jaycees who recognized him for outstanding service to the community and who awarded him Jaycee of the year. He was president of the local Red Cross. One of his greatest areas of service combined his interest in sports as he worked with Little League for over 20 years. His vision was always to provide a way for ALL boys to be eligible to play ball. His service in church was at Bethany Methodist. Mr. Hatchett enjoyed life on the job. He had a career of over 20 years at Kimberly Clark, later Bowater, working in the finishing and shipping department. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 18, 2014 from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Trentt Hatchett, Tristen Hatchett, Maison Ard, Ryan Tarpley, Evin Harmon and Kirk Mayo. In lieu of flowers the family request donation to Sylacauga Little League, P.O.
