Funeral service for Samuel F. Wooten, 86, will be Tuesday, August 5, at Radney-Smith Chapel with Rev. Dorothy Scott officiating. Open visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. with service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga. Mr. Wooten died Friday, August 1, 2014, at Shelby Ridge Health & Rehab in Alabaster. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha D. Wooten. Sam came as close to depicting the love of our Heavenly Father, as is humanly possible, through his unconditional love, patience, kindness and generosity expressed to his family, friends and strangers. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather as well as a dedicated servant to the community. Sam retired from Alabama Power Company in 1990 after 41 years and 10 months of dedicated and faithful service. People were Sam's priority; he gave cheerfully of his time, talents, money, gardening knowledge and his humor. He was a certified Consulting Rosarian, a member of the Birmingham Rose Society and the Sylacauga Garden Club. It was one of his greatest joys to share roses from his garden with many people every season for many years. Sam was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. He was also a member of the Sylacauga Singers since 1971. Sam had a beautiful singing voice that matched the beauty of his blue eyes and the beautiful song for his life that God planted in his heart. He is survived by his daughters, Connie Boyter, husband J.Earle of Vero Beach, FL and Anne Ryals, husband Tommy of Alabaster, AL; grandchildren, Ashley Stock, Casey Ryals and Zach Ryals; great-grandchildren, Samantha Boyter and A.J.Stock. Memorial messages may be sent to the family at Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga, AL will direct the services.
