Funeral service for Era Lee Ballard Stevens, 86, will be Friday, January 18, 2013 at 11:00 am at Radney-Smith Chapel with Rev. Joe Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Talladega Springs Cemetery in Talladega Springs, AL. Mrs. Stevens died Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Joyce Morris; parents, Luke and Hattie Ballard; sister, Catherine Pody. She was a member of Talladega Springs Full Gospel Tabernacle Church and was a member of the Order of The Eastern Star. She kept foster children in her home for a number of years. She was a loving and faithful wife, devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Vernon Lee Stevens of Talladega Springs, AL; son, Jerry Lee Stevens of Sylacauga; daughter, Glenda Gail Kelley, husband Donnie of Talladega Springs, AL; brother, James Earl Ballard, wife Lois of Ashland, AL; sister, Margaret Louise Jones of Sylacauga; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren. Her loving caregivers were her granddaughters, Wendy Chandler, husband Shannon, Kathy Carpenter, husband Lynn and Gwen Chandler, husband Bubba. Visitation will be Thursday, January 17, 2013 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home. They will also receive friends on Friday, January 18, 2013 starting at 10 a.m. The family would like to give a special thank you to Southern Care Hospice. Pallbearers will be Brian Gower, Mark Gower, Adam Chandler, Brandon Chandler, Blake Chandler and Jake Chandler. Honorary pallbearers will be Shannon Chandler, Lynn Carpenter, Donald Chandler, Eli Carpenter and Landon Yarbough. Memorial messages may be sent to the family at Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga, AL will direct the services.
