Emma Grace Mitchell

Funeral service for Emma Grace Mitchell, 6, of Oxford, will be Thursday, September 18, 2014, at 11:00 am at Munford Baptist Church. Rev. Tim Thomas will officiate and burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park, Talladega AL. Her family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. at Munford Baptist Church. Emma passed away September 15, 2014 at Children's Hospital Birmingham, Alabama. Emma was a native of Munford and lived most of her life in Oxford. She was a member of Munford Baptist Church. She attended Munford Elementary School. She was a Munford cheerleader and loved taking ballet. Emma enjoyed spending time with her big sissy Kaitlyn and her puppy Princess Bella Rose. Emma's smile lit up the room. She touched many lives through her cancer journey. Emma had a huge loving heart, always thinking of others. Our family would like to thank family, friends, and all of Emma's supporters during our journey. A special thanks to doctors and staff at Children's of Alabama Hospital. She is preceded in death by brother, Wyatt Cole Mitchell, grandfather, F.E. Buster Mitchell. Survivors include father, Jay Mitchell, mother, Amy Mellon Mitchell, sister, Kaitlyn Mitchell, grandmother, Shirley Mellon, grandmother, Ruth Mitchell, Grandparents, Wayne and Faye Mellon, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Pallbearers will be John Trickett, Ben Trickett, Larry Hardeman, and Sammy Gallman. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Children's of Alabama Brain Cancer Research, UAB Department of Pediatric Oncology Research, 1600 7th. Ave. S., Suite 512, Birmingham, AL 35233.
