Madonna Jr., Frederic G.* - Downingtown  
Frederic G. Madonna Jr. of Downingtown Frederic G. Madonna, Jr., 51, of Downingtown, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, at Chester County Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Andrea L. Madonna, with whom he shared 24 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of Frederic G., Sr. and Virginia M. Copas Madonna. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp for eight years, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was the owner operator of Fred Madonna, Inc., which he started in 1994. Through his tireless hard work and dedication, he built his business into a successful enterprise. Fred was an avid boater and enjoyed spending time fishing in Atlantic City on his boat, the FredEx. He was a member of Eastern Lancaster County Rod and Gun Club. Most importantly, he was a loving husband and father. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his children, Brandon F. and Sydney M.; brothers, David and Brian (Deanne); sister, Kristine Dunlap (Robert); father-in-law, Albert Donofrio; brother-in-law, John Donofrio (Denise); three nieces and five nephews. A liturgical service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 23, at St. Joseph Church, 338 Manor Ave., Downingtown, where family and friends may call from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be private. Mahaffey, Mary Jane (Jane)* - West Grove, Pa  
Mary Jane (Jane) Mahaffey of West Grove Mary Jane (Jane) Mahaffey, 82, of West Grove, Pa. died peacefully in her sleep on February 22, 2015 after a long illness. Jane was born to Alfred and Lillian Slade on August 14, 1932 in Philadelphia. She graduated from Upper Darby High School in 1950 and then attended Beaver College where she majored in music. After graduating in 1954, she sang solo soprano in many recitals and performances. After marrying George H. Mahaffey III in 1955, Jane became a homemaker and professional piano teacher to many young people over the next 40 years. She introduced hundreds of children to the wonders of music and the discipline of learning piano during her teaching tenure. She enjoyed boating and golf and was an energetic leader in her church and community. Jane is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister Dorothy (Dottie) Langston. Jane is survived by her son George W. Mahaffey, her sister Betty Morgan, and her two grandchildren Evan George Mahaffey and Katharine Leigh Mahaffey. In lieu of flowers or other acknowledgements, the family requests that donations be made to The Boy Scouts of America. Jane had requested a private funeral service to be reunited with her loving husband George H. Mahaffey III. McElhany, Rueben B.* - Coatesville  
Reuben B. McElhany of Coatesville Reuben B. McElhany, 82, of Coatesville, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at his home with his family at his side. He was the beloved husband of Caroline M. Nothe McElhany, with whom he shared 36 years of marriage. Born in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Ferdinand B. and May A. Hall McElhany. He was employed as a utility repairman with General Motors, retiring in 1983. An avid outdoorsman, Reuben enjoyed gardening, riding his tractor and raising farm animals. He was quite a jokester and always had everyone laughing. He also enjoyed square dancing with his wife. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Steve B. McElhany (Joann), Ronald D. McElhany (Beth), Brenda M. Martin (Gary), Barton E. McElhany (Jennifer), Paul E. Nothe, III (Sharon), Terry C. Mekosh, and Joanne M. Heitzman (Robert, III). He is also survived by his brothers, John (Nancy) and James (Bobbi); and sister, Lillian Edgin (Ken); and by 15 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Miles, and sisters, Grace Brought and Janice Longacre; and by his grandson, Jason Martin. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, at Romansville United Methodist Church, 1859 West Strasburg Road, Coatesville, where family and friends may call from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. A visitation will also be held on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown. Interment will be in the church cemetery. McGuigan Sr., James A.* - Drexel Hill  
James A. McGuigan Sr. of Drexel Hill James A. McGuigan, Sr., 89, of Drexel Hill, Pa., passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Feb. 25, 2015. Born on April 11, 1925, Jim was predeceased by his parents Leo and Ada McGuigan, his brothers John T. and Richard F., his wife of 52 years Catherine (nee McCormick) and his dear friend Anetta Jane Given. Raised in Delaware County, Jim attended Haverford High School before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1942. As a member of the Sixth Marine Division, G Company of the 29th Marine Regiment, Jim was a Browning Automatic rifleman and fought at Guadalcanal, Okinawa, Saipan and China. While fighting the Battle of Sugar Loaf Hill on the island of Okinawa, Jim was injured by a enemy bullet for which he was awarded the Purple Heart. After recovering for 90 days on a naval hospital ship, he rejoined his unit in China. At the end of World War II, Jim returned to civilian life in 1946. While attending engineering at Drexel University, he met Kitty and they married in 1947. Jim worked for C.J. Rainier & Company in Philadelphia as vice president of sales for 32 years. In retirement, Jim was active in the Upper Darby Wrestling Boosters Club which he and his wife founded in 1982. He was active in the Marine Corps League serving as Commandant of both the Smedley Butler and Tun Tavern Detachments. He was active in Chester County politics from the 1960’s through the early 1970’s. Upon moving to Delaware County, he became active with the Delaware County Democratic Committee. At the time of his death, Jim was a lifetime member of the Upper Darby Detachment of the Marine Corps League, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and the Sixth Marine Division Association, attending every annual reunion. Jim served as a deacon of Marple Presbyterian Church in Broomall, Pa. Left to cherish his memory and to continue his legacy of love and service are his nine children, Kathryn T. McGuigan (Thomas M. Montalbano) of Playa del Rey, Calif., James Anthony, Jr. (Theresa) of Phoenixville, Patricia M. Payne (James) of Catonsville, Md., Maureen E. McGuigan (Richard T. Descano) of Petaluma, Calif., Colleen R. McGuigan of Woodbine, N.J., Eileen M. Cox of Drexel Hill, Sean T. McGuigan (Theresa) of Somers Point, N.J., Liam P. McGuigan of Conshohocken, and Kevin R. McGuigan (Stacey) of Sewell, N.J.; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Jane S. McGuigan of Marietta, Ga. and Sr. Theresa Marian McCormick of Reading, Pa.; his brother-in-law Edmund Tunitis of Macungie, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to his viewing Sunday, March 1, 5 to 7 p.m. at The Donohue Funeral Home, 8401 West Chester Pike (cor. Lynn Blvd.), Upper Darby, PA (610) 449-0300 and Monday, March 2, 10 to 10:50 a.m. at Marple Presbyterian Church, 105 N. Sproul Road, Broomall, followed by his Service at 11a.m. Interment is private. McLaughlin Jr., John C.* - Formerly Of West Chester  
John C. McLaughlin Jr., formerly of West Chester John C. McLaughlin Jr, 71, of Sarasota, Florida, originally West Chester Pa., passed away on Feb. 8, 2015. A memorial service will be held at Grace & Truth Fellowship Church, 201 Walnut Street, Morgantown, Pa. on March 8 at 2 p.m. John was born in Philadelphia, Pa. to Florence and John C. McLaughlin and graduated from St. James High School in 1962. He was a gunnery sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. He retired from Scott Paper Company after 31 years. John is survived by his sister Lois (Charles) Uebele, and nephew Charles, his son Brian (Sonya) McLaughlin, and his daughters Jennifer (Robert) Bell, and Lynne (Ken) Decker. He also has five grandchildren, Michael, Alex, Kelsey, Zack & Abbey. McNutt, Rev. Thomas Raymond* - Audubon  
The Rev. Thomas Raymond McNutt, 85, passed away on Friday, Feb. 20, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Carolyn (Beard). He was the father of four: Mark, Debbie, Tim, and Keith (deceased): grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of three. He was a pastor, teacher, singer, actor, artist and pianist. He taught at Woods School and Episcopal Academy. He was the former pastor at Wissahickon Presbyterian Church and interim pastor at Bala Cynwyd Presbyterian, Roxborough Presbyterian, Southwest Presbyterian and Great Valley Presbyterian. He attended Haverford High School, Haverford College and Pittsburgh Seminary. He enjoyed his retirement at Shannondell Retirement Community in Audubon, Pa. The funeral service will be held at Great Valley Presbyterian Church, 2025 Swedesford Road, Malvern, this Wednesday, Feb. 25.
