Alfred A. Sciotti Sr.

Alfred A. Sciotti Sr. of Oxford Alfred A. Sciotti, Sr., 85, passed away on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 at the Chester County Hospital, West Chester. He was the husband of Antoinette V. Galluppi Sciotti with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. Born in Sinking Spring, Pa., he was the son of the late Anthony and Maria Peracchia Sciotti. Alfred bravely served as a United States Merchant Marine in WWII, and was also a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. He was a self-employed mushroom grower in Kennett Square, and was also employed with the Chester Co. Prison, retiring in 2000. Alfred was a member of Assumption BVM Church in West Grove and the Knights of Columbus. He also was a member of the Nathan Holmes Post 362 of the American Legion, West Chester and the Butler-O'Connor-McCormick Post 106 of the V. F. W., West Chester. He is survived by his wife; three sons, Anthony Sciotti of Oxford, Alfred A. Sciotti, Jr. and Vincent Sciotti both of West Grove; one daughter, Anna Maria Sciotti-Walls of West Grove; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Anthony Sciotti. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Assumption BVM Church, 300 State Rd., West Grove, where friends may call from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friends may also call between 6 and 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at the Edward L. Collins, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 86 Pine St., Oxford. Interment, with full military honors, will be at Oxford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Alfred's memory may be made to the Sciotti Memorial Fund, in care of the Edward L. Collins, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 86 Pine St., Oxford, PA 19363.
