Glenn Perry Obituary

Glenn W. Perry of Lionville Glenn W. Perry, 65, of Lionville died Thursday February 27, 2014 at the Chester County Hospital. Born in Wilmington, Del., he was the son of the late Frank and Grace Lamborn Perry. He was the partner of 42 years to Diana Simpson. Glenn grew up in Avondale with his brother, Alan. He was involved in the Boy Scouts (Eagle Scout), sports, delivering newspapers and working at the family business, Perry's News Agency. The family enjoyed boating on the Chesapeake on Newsy, the family boat. Glenn graduated from Denison University with a Bachelor's Degree in 1970, where he played soccer and was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, serving as president. He served his country in the Air Force Reserve. He founded Glenn Associates Real Estate and Appraisal business in West Chester, Glenn loved his home, at the farmhouse in Lionville, for the last 42 years. He enjoyed the special, unique neighborhood with neighbors that are family/friends who take care of each other. His interests at home were gardening, cooking, crosswords and bird watching. On Sunday's (sometimes Saturdays too) he had breakfast with the family dog, Ellie Ruff. His greatest pleasure was raising his grandson, Andy (AT), and participating in every way with Andy's sports activities, basketball, soccer, skateboarding, rollerblading but especially travel ice hockey with the Quaker Ice Hockey Club. As a family they traveled all over the US and Canada having fun and forming lifelong friendships. Glenn was known to everyone as GP and very proud to be a Hockey Dad. Glenn loved all sports but his greatest passion was golf. He kept his clubs in the car and often played hooky from work to golf anywhere, anytime, with anyone, while skillfully deflecting any flak from home. Glenn was known for his "colorful" language (on and off the course). Friendships from every part of his life were who he was. The family would like to thank everyone for their love and generosity. Glenn was a fun guy and would like to be remembered that way. In addition to Diana he is survived by her children Jason and Joele, grandchildren, Andru Thomas, Christian, Ryan and Sean Simpson, and Asha, Amanda and Ahmirah Whitsett. Also survived by his brother Alan L. Perry and his wife Sally (Memphis, TN), nieces and nephews Kristin and her husband Dr. Ryan Martinez (Seattle); Dr. Alan Tyler Arguello (Sacramento), Brook and her husband Frank Bailey (Memphis); Alexander Perry (Memphis); great nephews Felix and Oliver Martinez (Seattle), great aunt Ethel Perry, cousins Michelle, Michael, and Lynn, the Phiel families, and the many Lamborn family cousins. A Memorial Celebration at the farmhouse will be scheduled for the last weekend in April. Contribution suggestions in Glenn's name are to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or any youth sports group. Glenn was the smartest Realtor I ever met ! He always had time to mentor the newer agents in his office ! Anytime I mentioned his name in Chester Co. Realtor circles - great things were said about Glenn.

Thanks for all the kind words and thoughts from friends and family both near and far. Glenn left this life much too soon, but as we know his name was called. May his smile, his love and devotion to his family, his hooks and slices and kind words for all be fondly remembered! Brother Alan (For those of you responding on line, I would love to see a photo or two that you have that you think represents the Glenn you knew!)

Alan, Glenn could be your twin brother! Amazing resemblance, most certainly he is your brother! We were so sorry to learn about his sudden demise---you can't ever be prepared for this. May God bless you in your sorrow and may the angels have already carried his soul to Heaven....
