Harry Ross Johnston

Harry Ross Johnston of Coatesville Harry Ross Johnston, 81, of Coatesville, died Monday, July 15, 2013 at his home. He was the wife of Patsy Anne Johnson Johnston with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. Born in Downingtown, he was the son of Harry Ross and Anna Regina Withrow Johnston. Drafted into the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954, Harry served as a Corporal in Ordinance Disposal in Southern France. After the service, Harry owned Johnston's Auto Body business for 58 years. During this time, he invented and patented tools pertaining to the auto body business which he manufactured and sold. Harry was a long-time member of Doe Run Presbyterian Church and under his leadership helped to build a home for a family of nine. He was a fan of NASCAR racing and raced at local tracks with Buzz Woodward. Harry played on several Senior Softball teams and competed in the Senior Olympics. Surviving him in addition to his wife, Patsy are his sons, Gary, husband of Lisa; Brian, husband of Tracey; and David, husband of Teresa; six grandchildren, Mallory, Ross, Avery, Alivia, Wesley and Jaclyn; two step-grandchildren, Kristin Palita, wife of John; and Jenna Riffey, wife of William; two step great-grandchildren, Johnnie Palita and Liam Riffey; and five sisters, Peggy Mowday, Doris Leslie, Janet Leslie, wife of Harry, Kathryn Colyer, wife of Glenn and Betty Pavelik, wife of Earl. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 19, at Doe Run Presbyterian Church, 3104 Doe Run Church Road, Coatesville. Family and friends may call to pay their respects from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 18 and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Interment will be in Doe Run Cemetery, Coatesville.
