James T. Birkhead

James T. Birkhead of Exton James T. Birkhead, 74, of Exton, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Paoli Memorial Hospital. Born in Louisville, Ky., he was the son of the late Bruce J. and Irene Birkhead. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 8 years. Mr. Birkhead received his bachelor's degree from Villanova University. He was a retiree of The Boeing Company and then went to work for St. Gabriel's Hall in Audubon, a reform school where he was able to better the lives of troubled youth. A food and wine connoisseur, he also enjoyed traveling and the annual reunions with those he served with in the Army. He especially loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his son, J. Tucker Birkhead and wife, Danielle, of Chester Springs; brother, Bruce J. Birkhead and wife, Carol, of Maryland; Anita J. Cantrell and husband, Mark, of Kentucky; and by grandchildren, Jacob, Luke and Catie. He was predeceased by his brother, John C. Birkhead. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 26th, at St. Elizabeth Church, 100 St. Elizabeth Drive, Chester Springs, where family and friends may call from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Coatesville V. A. Medical Center, 1400 Blackhorse Hill Road, Coatesville, PA 19320.
