John Harold Ratliff Sr.

John Harold Ratliff Sr. of Aurora, Ill. John Harold Ratliff, Sr., 72, of Aurora, Ill., passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 4, 2014 in Philadelphia. John passed away after a short battle with Melanoma while surrounded by his loved ones. John lived an amazing life and was blessed enough to travel the world with his wife Linda. He felt most at ease on the golf course where he spent a lot of his time enjoying life. A native of Delaware County, John graduated from Ridley Park High School, class of 1960. After high school, he served four years in the U.S. Air Force before moving on to earn a business degree from Widener University. He took great pride in working full time while putting himself through college and graduating with honors. This desire to achieve at a high level is evident throughout his career. Ultimately rising to Executive VP of Global Sales at Comdisco, a Fortune 500 company, before retiring in 2001. His larger than life personality and charisma was only eclipsed by his kindness and incredible consideration of others. John will be deeply missed by his loving wife Linda; four sons; three daughters-in-law; 10 grandchildren; a sister, Betty; and a brother, Ben. He is also survived by a large group of extended family and close friends. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 6th, at the Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington. The Celebration of his Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7th, at the Brandywine Country Club, 2822 Shipley Road, Wilmington.
