John J. Ferencsik of Warminster John J. Ferencsik, 91, died on Saturday, April 5, 2014. He was born in the small eastern European village of Glaserhei on Feb. 9, 1923, in what is now Slovakia. John graduated from North Catholic High School in Philadelphia in 1942. He briefly attended Drexel University, but was later accepted at MIT where he graduated as an ROTC officer in the United States Navy with a B.S. in electrical engineering in 1947. He married his wife, Helen, on April 15, 1950, and she still resides at Ann's Choice in Warminster. John worked initially as a design engineer but eventually settled at the Philadelphia Electric Company where he spent 34 years, retiring as a department head in 1986. John was a devoted Catholic. He spent much of his free time in early retirement assisting Saint David's Catholic Church in Willow Grove to manage and finance improvements to the parish, and, in general, to help the parish prosper wherever possible. More recently, he was a member of the Church of the Nativity in Warminster. He was most of all devoted to his family, and the time he spent on their behalf will never be forgotten. John is survived by two sons, John and Robert, and one daughter, Joanne, along with three grandchildren, Matthew, Zachary and Steven. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 12th at Nativity of Our Lord, 605 West Street Road, Warminster.
