Lawrence Joseph Martin

Lawrence Joseph Martin of West Chester Lawrence J. Martin, 66 of West Chester, died peacefully at home on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013. He was the loving and devoted husband of Jean Izzi Martin with whom he shared 39 years of wonderful marriage. Larry was born in Philadelphia on July 29, 1947, and was the son of Eleanor Sinn Martin and the late Joseph H. Martin. Larry was a Vietnam War veteran and proudly served his country as an infantryman from 1967 to 1968. Upon his return from Vietnam, Larry attended Penn State University where he earned a bachelor of science degree in business, followed by a MBA from Widner University. Larry's career was in the accounting field and he retired as Vice President/Comptroller of an international financial company. Larry was an avid Penn State Football fan. He and Jean were season ticket holders for 30+ years and no matter what the weather, enjoyed attending Nittany Lion Football games, "We Are...Penn State!" In addition to his wife and mother, Larry is survived by his daughter Michele Martin; step-daughters, Michelle Burns, Tammy Racine, and Lynda Carstensen; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brothers Terry and Ronald Martin; and nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Service at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 16th, at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home Inc., 410 N. Church St., West Chester, PA 19380, 610-696-1181, www.DellaFH.com. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
