Marcia Donnelly

Marcia Donnelly of Glen Mills Marcia Donnelly (nee, Baylor), 76, formerly of Broomall and Pottstown, passed away on Oct. 19, 2012 peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Pottstown in 1936, Marcia was the daughter of Anna (Hoffman) and Dr. Charles A. Baylor, both deceased. She was a 1954 graduate of Pottstown High School and a 1958 graduate of Immaculata College where she received a B.S. in biology. In 1959, she was awarded a scholarship from the Arthritis Foundation to attend the University of Pennsylvania and graduated with a degree in physical therapy. She went on to pursue a fulfilling career for over 30 years in physical therapy working for the Arthritis Foundation and for the Cerebral Palsy Association helping young children and then at Rest Haven, Leader Nursing Home and Fair Acres Geriatric Center providing therapy to the elderly. Marcia received many awards, including the National Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship in High School and the National "Who's Who Award in American Colleges" from Immaculata College. Marcia was very active in sports. She played and captained varsity field hockey, basketball and softball at Pottstown High School. At Immaculata College, she was awarded "All Catholic" for field hockey in her Sophomore year and played field hockey and basketball all four years. She also served as vice-president of her class for 4 years. Marcia was an avid lover of golf, the outdoors, hiking and spending quality time with her family and friends and was very active in her grandchildren's lives. She also volunteered at the Fox Hill Farms Association (Good Neighbor Project) helping community residents with medical or health problems. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph B. Funk. She is survived by her children, Deborah L. Urie (Lawrence Edward Urie) of Annapolis, Md., Susan Funk of West Chester, Joseph B. "JB" Funk (Jackie) of West Chester, and the late Chris Lynes; and her grandchildren, Lawrence Joseph "LJ" and Kendall Urie, Heather and Holly Funk, and Joseph and Christopher Funk. She is also survived by her brother, Mark Baylor. Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at The Donohue Funeral Home, 1627 West Chester Pike, West Chester, (610) 431-9000. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at St. Cornelius Church, 110 Ridge Road, Chadds Ford. Interment, Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken.
