Margaret Moyer Alburn

Margaret Moyer Alburn of West Chester Margaret Moyer Alburn, 95, of West Chester, passed away on Feb. 4, 2013. Born in 1917 in Columbia, Pa., she was the daughter of Katherine (King) and Isiah Moyer and the youngest of six children. She attended Hyland Hall in Holidaysburg, Pa. and later attended Cedar Crest College in Allentown, where she earned a degree in chemistry. Upon graduation, she worked at Difco Chemical in Detroit and later for Wyeth Laboratories in Philadelphia, where she met her husband, Harvey. After having her children, she worked at the Westtown School Library and later got her master's degree in library science from Drexel University. Margaret always dreamed of having her own bookstore and opened "Margaret Alburn Bookseller" in the Parkway Center which she owned for 11 years and later sold to the owner of "Chester County Bookstore" in the Goshen Shopping Center. She was predeceased by her husband, Harvey Alburn and her five siblings. She is survived by her sons, Tom (Patrice) of Wrightsville, Pa. and Roger (Ann) of Westtown, and two grandsons, Andrew of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Chad of Philadelphia. Her family wishes to acknowledge her outstanding caregivers, Sheila Panther, Tawanda Pierce and Vera Prigg. Her family will have a private graveside service at Birmingham-Lafayette Cemetery in West Chester.
