Marilyn W. Smith of Oxford Marilyn W. Smith, 81, of Oxford, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Ware Presbyterian Village. She was the wife of Eubert "Ike" Smith, who passed away in 1999, and with whom she shared 51 years of marriage. Born in Oxford, she was the daughter of the late Robert R. Whiteside, Jr. and Eleanor Clendenin Tarbert Whiteside. Mrs. Smith was a homemaker. She was a volunteer at many area functions. She was the Volunteer of the Year at Jennersville Regional Hospital in 1992, and was awarded the "Walter Goss Award". At Jennersville Regional Hospital she worked in the Snack Bar and was the Hospitality Cart "Candy Lady". She was a member of the Eastern Star, and the West Grove United Presbyterian Church but attended, for the past years, the Toughkenamon United Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Smith is survived by two sons, Steven V. Smith and his wife Donna of Toughkenamon, and Bruce A. Smith of Newark, Del.; eight grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by one brother, Robert Whiteside, III. You are invited to visit with her family and friends from 10 to 11 on Thursday morning, March 28, at the Toughkenamon United Presbyterian Church, Church Street, Toughkenamon. Her funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the New London Presbyterian Cemetery, New London.
