Muriel E. Rudershausen(1931 - 2014)

Muriel E. Rudershausen of Kennett Square Muriel Engel Rudershausen of Kennett Square died Sunday March 9, 2014. She was born in 1931 in Morristown, NJ: Muriel Churchill Engel. She was raised in Mendam, N.J. and attended Douglass College (Rutgers University) where she received her B.S. (nutrition). She was a home extension agent for Rutgers and the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Hunterdon County, N.J. from 1952-54. She married Charles G. Rudershausen in 1954 who survives her after 60 years of marriage, as well as her four children, Charles D. ("Chuck") Rudershausen of Unionville, Katheryn ("Bonnie") Trigg of Bedford, Mass., Sara Alexander of Etna, Maine, and Paul J. Rudershausen of Morehead City, N.C., as well as eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was active in volunteer service, successively at Longwood Gardens, A.I. Dupont Children's Hospital, and Brandywine River Museum and Conservancy. She was president of the Four Seasons Garden Club and a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Unionville. She worked with the Seeing Eye Foundation to donate purebred German Shepherds that she bred. She was a superb and generous cook, singer, dancer, consummate gardener, flower arranger, seamstress, creative hobbyist, adventurer, traveler, Maine camper, swimmer, sailor, lifetime fancier and owner of German shepherd dogs, empathetic listener, counselor, letter writer, and teacher. She loved life! There will be a memorial service celebrating Muriel's life at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 15th, at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 109 E. Doe Run Rd., Unionville, PA 19375.
