Ronald Leo "Ron" Bannister

Ronald 'Ron' Leo Bannister of Glen Mills Ronald "Ron" Leo Bannister, 81, passed away on July 7, 2014, surrounded by his loving family at Maris Grove in Glen Mills. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Frances Mahoney Bannister; sons, Ronald (Carol) Bannister Jr., Christopher (Susana) Bannister and Joseph (Lacy) Raiker; daughter, Tricia (Vincent) Pan; sister, Suzanne Cusick; and a sister-in-law, Sr. Patricia Mahoney OP; and many loving grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Gertrude Redmond Cusick, and a sister, Barbara Cusick. Ron was a loving father, husband and a friend to all. He graduated from Georgia Tech and Villanova University. After serving in the Army, he held a 40 year distinguished career as a mechanical engineer with Westinghouse Electric. Ron was a 50 year fellow of the Acoustical Society of America and held numerous patents. Ron possessed a love for travel and had the opportunity to cover six of the seven continents. He was a member of the African Violet Society, his passion for his plants was lifelong. Ron can be called Coach by many. His coaching career spanned more than 30 years, from Aston Township, to East Side Little League in West Chester, and culminating in Winter Springs, Fla. He will be deeply missed by all who crossed his path in life. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 12th, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 430 Valleybrook Rd., Glen Mills, PA 19342, where friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A Celebration of Life reception at Maris Grove, Glen Mills, will immediately follow.
