Sarah Elizabeth Hillian-Timm

Sarah Elizabeth Hillian-Timm of Chester Springs Sarah Elizabeth Hillian-Timm, a retired Peekskill educator and former resident, died peacefully at home in Chester Springs, on Nov. 2, 2012. Born on April 6, 1943 in South Carolina, she was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Essie Mae Hillian, and her husband, David Timm of Cleveland, Ohio. Educated in the Norfolk Public School System in Virginia, Sarah graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1961. She went on to earn a bachelor's degree from Norfolk State University and a master's degree from Columbia University. Sarah taught in Peekskill City Schools (New York) for 31 years. There she made many lifelong friends. After Sarah retired and relocated to Pennsylvania in 1998 to be near her only child, Davirah, she became an active member of the Downingtown Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Sarah leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughter and son-in-law, Davirah Timm-Dinkins and Delvin Dinkins; two grandchildren, Delvin, Jr. and Bria; five brothers, James (Mary) of Washington, D.C., Jeremiah of Bowie, Md., Arnold of Brooklyn, N.Y., Richard (Sarah) of Virginia Beach, Va. and Lawrence (Effie) of Upper Malboro, Md.; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis of Norfolk, Va. Other survivors include a paternal aunt and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her parents, Sarah is preceded in death by her three brothers, Albert and Willie of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Leonard ("Ricky") of Norkfolk, Va. and a sister, Mildred Green, also of Norfolk. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, at Milestones Events, LLC at 600 East Market Street in West Chester, PA 19382.
