Charles F. Horning

Charles F. Horning of Elverson Charles F. Horning, 73, of Elverson, passed away on July 18, 2013. He was the husband of Sally M. Horning, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. Born in Philadelphia, he was predeceased by his parents, William J. Horning and Lillian Patterson Horning and his step-mother, Elizabeth Kelly Horning. Charles was a loving husband, father, "Pop-Pop" and brother, who enjoyed spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed his yearly vacations to Ocean City, Md. with his grandchildren. He was employed at Pepperidge Farm for over 27 years in the bakery department. After his retirement he continued to share his love of Pepperidge with everyone. He was an active member of Summerfield in Elverson where he loved coordinating special activities in addition to the monthly card games and golf outings. He enjoyed debating current events and could usually be found enjoying a good old western movie. In addition to his wife he is survived by his son, David W. Horning and his wife Sheila of North Coventry; brother, Joseph Horning of Morton; and sisters, Elizabeth L. Eddins (Dennis) of Elverson, Carol A. Fleming of Texas, Kathleen Martin (Dennis) of Florida, and Therese Cooling of Newtown Square; and three grandchildren, Bridgette, Daniel and Colleen. He was predeceased by his brother, William Hornung and sister, Mary L. Harley. A funeral Mass will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 25th at St Peter's Church, 2835 Manor Road, West Brandywine, where family and friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
