Eleanor Silvers Obituary

Eleanor Reisinger (Ellie) Silvers, 93, of West Chester, formerly of Devon, passed peacefully on Friday, June 1, 2012.
She was the daughter of the late Jacob and Eleanora (nee Huber) Reisinger of Youngstown, Ohio, and the loving wife of the late John A. Silvers (Jack).
She is survived by her daughter, Julia A. Rose (Julie) of West Chester; son, John A. Silvers Jr. (Sandy) of Mt. Pleasant S.C.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In her early years, she graduated from the Connecticut College for Women, New London, Conn., was a member of the Junior League organization and was associated with St. Elizabeth Hospital, Youngstown, Ohio, as director of the nursery school.

She was the director of the Peter Pan Nursery School, Rosemont; Raphel School, Paoli, for Special Education and Learning Disabilities and teacher of child psychology at Harcum Junior College in Bryn Mawr. Following this she was selected by Valley Forge Elementary School to be the first teacher mainstreamed into the public school system for special education and students with learning disabilities. Eleanor was always very nice to me when I was young and silly and in love with Julie. now I m old and silly and still in love with Julie, (but don't tell her). Ellie was a teacher, a great mom who gave us two great kids and who was always fun to be around. If you knew her well, you will miss her smile, her laugh, and her playfullness. She was a high class, beautiful woman. I will always love her for being so nice to me when I needed, well... to be nice to me. I knew her for a long time, and I liked her a lot.
