Artavia Leona Prigg "Artie" Williams Obituary
Artavia Leona Prigg Williams of Coatesville Artavia, also called "Artie", was born on April 15, 1949, to Doris Pauline Prigg, at Chester County Hospital. She was educated in the Avon Grove School District, and she was very active in sports. She graduated from high school and went on to nursing school. After completing nursing school, she worked at Kendal Crosslands Nursing Home, West Chester Arms, Chester County Prison, Fair Acres and most recently, Barclay Friends in West Chester. She was an incredibly dedicated worker who received many accolades for her personal loving care of patients. Artavia was a member of The Star of Bethlehem UAME Church in West Grove. She was choir director at St. Daniels UAME Church, Iron Hill, Del. Artavia lost a tough battle to a lengthy illness on Dec. 3, 2012. Artavia is survived by her son, Dwight Garnett Williams of Coatesville; her mother, Doris P. Mason of Kennett Square; three loving sisters, Deborah E. Price of Wilmington, N.C., Marcia J. Williams of Kennett Square and Lorrene H. Miller of Newport, Del.; one uncle, James T. Prigg (Deborah); two nephews, Nathan A. Williams (Danielle) and Joseph E. Miller, III of Newport, Del.; two nieces, Tinika J. Wilson of Elkins Park and Stephanie L. Jones (Jermaine) of Little Rock, Ark.; one great nephew, Tony; five great nieces, Alicia, Felicia, Anya, Alexia, Alyssa; and two dedicated friends, Daphne and Haimwattie; and a host of cousins, friends and many loved ones. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, from the Emmett Golden Hunt Memorial Chapel, Inc., 427 East Lincoln Highway, Coatesville. Visit us at www.huntmemorialchapel.com
