Dear Steve, Rachel, and Marisa....We haven't seen you for many years, nor have we seen Ben or Marisa since the preschool years at KinderCare. I am so saddened by the news of Ben's death, and wanted to reach out to you. I can't even imagine the pain of your loss,, but wanted you to know that your family is in our thought and prayers. May you find some small amount of peace in this horrible time. With my deepest sympathy, and in memory of the sweet little boy I remember from many, many years ago, Suzie (and family).

I had a class with Ben last semester. He was a great guy. I am still shocked about all this. I have been praying for his family.

I've just learned of your loss and am so deeply saddened. Teachers are not supposed to have favorites, but you know Ben always held a special place in my heart. Rachel and family,
My mom can't believe one of "her little Hebrew School girls" is going through such a tragedy. She sends her love and wishes you strength. I am also hoping that your community will hug you tightly and support you in the days ahead. I'm sure Ben was a wonderful boy. This tragedy makes no sense to me but I have to believe that Ben is safe in your parents' arms.

Dear Rachel, Steve and Marisa,
The death of a child has to be the hardest thing a parent can face. Your grief must be all-consuming. I am so sorry that you have to face this challenge and this pain in your lives. Allow yourselves to take the time and space you will need to learn to cope with this overpowering loss. Forgive yourselves when you cannot be what others expect you to be. Your needs are paramount and it is okay to turn within and concern yourselves only with what you need, what you want, in the days and weeks to come. Those who love you will understand.
Know that you are dearly loved. Rachel, know that I thought about you often before this tragedy and that in the past couple of days you have not left my mind. I send you whatever small comfort you can glean from knowing there are many people like me in the world who love you and mourn for you. You are in my heart and in my prayers.

Dear Rachel, Steve and Marisa
I am so sorry to hear about Ben. Alex came home from work the other day and asked me if I knew what happened, I was so shocked when he told me. You are in our thoughts and prayers. The principle at school sent a memo to the teachers about Ben and his achievements, and he mentioned Marisa as well. If there is anything we can do please let us know.

Rachel & Steven - I was stunned when I heard the news, especially since Rachel and I were just exchanging updates on our children a couple of weeks ago. Rach, I am in tears just reading all the wonderful tributes to Ben. He must have had a very special smile that lit up the room, since everyone keeps mentioning it. And finding out he was an Eagles fan like myself -- well, that just makes him the best! My son Max just told me about Ben's passing and I cannot believe it. Just two years ago we were visiting Kutztown and discovering that our boys would be in the same program, rejoicing that it was just perfect for them: they were going to study what they loved!

I'm very sorry for your loss, Galli family. I didn't know Ben personally, but I lived in the same building with him at Kutztown University; he would always brighten my day with a smile and friendly greeting when we saw each other in passing. His joyfulness will be missed on campus.

My name is Gina Applegate. I was Ben's second grade teacher! I loved spending that year with him and will cherish those memories. He was always smiling, so enthusiastic and could write all day long if I let him! Ben was a genuinely nice boy who was well liked and kind to all.
