Bertha S. Davis

Bertha S. Davis of West Chester Bertha S. "Bert" Davis, 90, passed away at Pocopson Nursing Home on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013. She was the wife of the late Earl M. Davis, Sr. Born April 19, 1923 in Plains, she was the daughter of the late Michael Niedzwiecki and the late Rosie Golobetski Niedzwiecki. Bertha came to West Chester in 1940 and worked at several businesses around the area. It was at the Warner Theater, that long-time residents may remember seeing her. She was a fixture behind the theater's concession stand from the late 1950s until the Warner closed. Bert was a member of The Baptist Church of West Chester. During her younger years, Bert enjoyed walking everywhere, dancing to polka music and shopping. Bert is survived by her five children, Patricia Smith (Ron), Earl Davis Jr., Terry Davis, all of West Chester, Ronald Davis (Cheryl) of Plano, Texas, and Tom Davis (Nancy) of Dorset, Ohio. She is also survived by 15 grand-children, 16 great grand-children, two great, great grand-children; and one sister, Francis (Max) of New City, New York. In addition to her birth parents, she was preceded in death by her step-parents, four sisters and one brother. Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Service 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc., 410 N.
