Carol Hodnett Obituary

Carol W. Hodnett of West Chester Carol W. Hodnett, 62, of West Chester, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2013, surrounded by her family and friends after a 5 year courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was the wife of James Hodnett, with whom she shared 40 years of marriage. Born in Delaware County, Carol was the daughter of Tom and Bettie Nye Welch. She was a 1968 graduate of Springfield High School and a graduate of West Chester State University with a degree in elementary education. She was a teacher, respected writer of poetry and short stories and spent 15 years as office manager with her husband at Wesco Aircraft. She enjoyed spending time with her family, relaxing on the beach and by the pool, and gardening. In addition to her husband and parents, Carol is survived by her children, Kristin (Keith) Swarcheck and Tom (Linda) Hodnett; sisters, Donna Mackrides and Sandi Williams; and five grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 730 South New Street, West Chester, PA 19382, where the family will receive guests starting at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Ovarian Cancer Coalition at www.ovarian.org/donate.php Online condolences may be made by visiting www.foundsfuneralhome.com.

Jim, You may not remember me, but I was the buyer for MBB Helicopter. I remember you so well as such a kind and nice man. I just wanted to say that I am very sorry for your loss. Hope you are doing well.

Growing up would not have been the same in Joeckville without Carol and Jim. So many wonderful memories that touched everyone in the neighborhood. We love you and we will miss you!
