On Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, God sent his chariot and angels to notify Wanda that he was moving her from Fairview Home Care Center to 777 Heaven's Boulevard where there will be no more pain or sorrow. The loved ones that are already there will be waiting for her at the banquet table so they can have a joyful reunion.|
Cherylee Wanda Loper Thomas was born on May 3, 1949, to Pauline E. Loper in West Chester. Wanda attended West Chester area schools. She was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Downingtown for many years. She was also a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Nathan Holmes 362.
Wanda met and married Mr. Meade Bernard Thomas. They made their home in Downingtown. She was employed by Reynolds Aluminum, which changed over to Alcoa from 1981 until she retired in 2008. She was an instructor on the production line and was sent to many areas to train people for their jobs.
Wanda loved playing pinochle, bingo and other card games. She also loved entertaining her family and friends. She loved doing birthday and baby showers. Wanda was a faithful and devoted friend to everyone with whom she came in contact. There was not anything she would not do for you. Wanda was a devoted Eagles and Phillies fan. God allowed her to see her last Eagles game on Monday evening, Nov. 5, 2012. She was truly loved by everyone at Fairview Home Center. For the short time she was there, she made a lot of caring friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Pauline Loper of West Chester; daughter, Ms. Robin Simpson of Lancaster; one granddaughter, Ms. Danitra Simpson of Brookhaven; one grandson, Mr. Daniel Simpson-Vargas of Brookhaven; and a foster daughter, Ms. Chan Warren. She will also be missed by three uncles, Mr. Rodney Loper, Mr. Robert Loper, both of West Chester, and Mr. George Jefferson of Baltimore, Md.; one aunt, Mrs. Eleanor Betty Loper Forte of West Chester; and a devoted caretaker, Ms. Linda Wooden.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Meade Bernard Thomas; son, Mr. William Simpson Jr.; she joins her beloved grandson, Mr. Jordan Simpson; three aunts, Mrs. Joanne Loper, Mrs. Shirley Jefferson and Ms. Pearl Loper; and two uncles, Mr. Willard Loper and Mr. Lynwood Loper.
Wanda had a giving and caring heart and truly lived with the scripture in mind, "If I can help somebody along the way my living will not be in vain."
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, followed by Funeral Services at 11 a.m. at Milestone Events, LLC, 600 E. Market St., West Chester. Interment will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Anneville.
Arrangements are being handled by the DeBaptiste Funeral Home of West Chester.
