Clementine L. "Clemmie" Whetstone

Clementine L. "Clemmie" Whetstone, 95, of West Chester, died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at the Hickory House in Honey Brook.
She was the wife of the late Robert B. Whetstone.
Born in Birdsboro, she was the daughter of the late George Watts and the late Sadie Brown Watts.
In addition to being a great mother, Clemmie was as a welder at Sun Ship Shipyards in Chester during World War II. Later she went to Baldwin Lima Hamilton in Chester, where she worked on tanks for the Korean War. She later went on to work for Reynold Springs Industries in Chester.
Clemmie and her family lived in Garden City during the 1940s and early 1950s until moving to Twin Oak Farms, Upper Chichester. She resided in Upper Chichester for the next 37 years where she was a member of Mt. Hope Methodist Church in Aston.
After her husband died she later moved to West Chester to be with family and finally to The Hickman Retirement Community in West Chester.
Clemmie was a member of the Rose Bud Square Dancing Club and also enjoyed ballroom dancing, jigsaw puzzles and being a great cook.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was always her first priority.
She is survived by her children, Robert L. Whetstone of West Chester and David P. Whetstone of Frankford, Del.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. at the Mt. Hope Cemetery, 4010 Concord Road, Aston.
