Conrad E. Muhly III of West Chester Our loving father, Conrad E. Muhly, III, of West Chester, passed away Jan. 30, 2014, after a short illness. He was 90 years young and resided at Simpson Meadows in Downingtown. Conrad was born Nov. 25, 1923 in Philadelphia. He was the son of the late Conrad E. Muhly and Emilie Rodenbach Muhly. Conrad graduated from Friends Central, in Wynnewood. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. He was a long time member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in West Chester. He was the president of Conrad E. Muhly Inc., a plumbing supply business, and former owner of Muhly Kitchen and Bath. He was a CKD (certified kitchen designer) and a CBD (certified bath designer) and was well known in Chester County for his design innovations. He was a member of the National Kitchen and Bath Association and many other associations throughout his professional career. He was very involved in his community as the past president of the West Goshen School Board, West Chester Area School Board, and West Chester Rotary Club. He was also past chairman of Chester County Redevelopment Authority, Chester County Republican Party, and Central Chester County Vocational School Board. In addition, Conrad was a past board member of the Chester County S.P.C.A., Chester County Private Industry Council, and Aid for International Medicine. Conrad's father proposed him as a Rotarian in 1947 at the Lansdowne Darby Rotary Club. His most precious memories as a Rotarian are the friends and acquaintances he made throughout his 67 years as a member. Conrad, "Connie" spent his final years as a Rotarian with the Sunrise Rotary Club in West Chester. Conrad is survived by his children, Conrad E. Muhly IV (wife Melissa), Earle S. Muhly, Clayre E. Schorn (husband Francis), and Melinda C. Helton (husband Randy); seven grandchildren, Anthony Schorn (wife Kari), Nicholas Schorn, Jesse Helton, Jacob Helton, Jack Muhly, Conrad E. Muhly V. (Finn), and Sophie Muhly; and one great-granddaughter, Taylor Schorn. He is further survived by his dear companion, Sue Taylor and his beloved dog "Little Boy". He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet S. Muhly and his sister Helen Morrow. He will be deeply missed by all. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Service 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 10 W. Pleasant Grove Rd, West Chester, with a visitation beginning at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Chester County S.P.C.A. 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA 19380.
