David D. Deckard

David D. Deckard David D. Deckard, 68, most recently of West Chester, passed away on June 3, 2013, at home with his family. Born in Baltimore, Md., David was the son of Velma Justine (Wells) and Frank David Deckard, both deceased. He grew up in Newport, Pa., and during his career years lived with his family in Wilmington, Del.; Charlotte, N.C.; and Waynesboro, Va., before subsequently retiring to West Grove. He was a 1966 graduate of Gettysburg College and worked as a computer programmer/systems design analyst for 36 years for the Du Pont Company at several different locations in Delaware, North Carolina, and Virginia. David was the beloved husband of Sandra C. (Christman) Deckard; loving father of Karen D. Collins (Ryan) of West Chester; loving grandfather of Rachael, Lathan, and Sean; and brother of Daniel Deckard (Kathleen) of Camden, Del. Over the years, David had many hobbies including photography, wood working, wine making and sports car rallying. He also loved animals and enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation time from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. to take place at West Grove United Methodist Church, 300 N.
