Elizabeth A. Miller

Elizabeth A. (Ottey)Miller, formerly of Paoli Elizabeth Adeline "Betty" Miller died February 19th, 2013 at her home in Embden, Maine. She was born June 28th, 1913 in Overbrook, Philadelphia, Pa. to Eric and Elizabeth (Love) Ottey and grew up in Paoli, Pa. After graduating from Temple University in 1935, Betty taught Physical Education and History for many years before earning a Master's Degree in Library Science in 1958. She worked as a School Librarian at the General Wayne Middle School in Malvern from 1958 until her retirement in 1983. In 1987 she moved to Embden and became an active member in the community, serving as a member of the Embden Historical Society and a library volunteer at the Embden Elementary School until in her late 90s. In August of 2010, Betty received the Boston Post Cane honoring her as Embden's oldest resident. She is survived by a son, Richard W. Miller of Worton, Md., a daughter, Betty Jo Taffe of Rumney, N.H., sisters Peggy Ann Whitaker of North Anson and Pauline Hill of Houston, Tex- as, a granddaughter Darcy M. Miller of Cochranville, Pa, grandsons Daniel D. Taffe of Concord, N.H., and Michael A. Taffe of San Diego Calif., five great grandchildren, and various nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service was held on March 14th at the North Anson Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty's honor to the Church at P.O. Box 247, North Anson, Maine 04958
